Commercial Architecture: Marina Bay Common Areas
The design team at Schimberg Group was engaged by individual owners at a Longboat Key condominium complex on Sarasota Bay. Though dated, the buildings offered unusually spacious floor plans for creative upscale interior design.
It soon became apparent that the 30-year-old exteriors and common areas no longer reflected the luxury and sophistication of the modernized residences. Schimberg Group’s architects and interior designers were invited to transform the three multi-story buildings into a cohesive, well-coordinated complex.
The facades were updated, traffic flow was enhanced, elevator interiors were modernized and private elevator lobbies were updated. Common areas were remodeled with rich woods and sophisticated porcelain tile by Porcelanosa. The complexity of any condominium renovation is multiplied by changing boards of directors, yet this multi-year project successfully adhered to a strict budget and satisfied 60 owners.
